Does a map of a school corridor tell the truth?
One: In this lesson you will design your own map symbols. First of all you need to take a look at this:

We are going to have a close look at the 11th floor outside our class and design map symbols for the different classrooms and any other uses. We'll draw our symbols onto and outline map of the floor. Remember to add a key (legend) and a title.
GOLDEN RULE OF MAP MAKING: Write words in pen, draw and colour in pencil.
Questions to consider: Was it difficult to decide what to include in your map/what did you leave out? Did you have all the information you needed? Does your map tell the full truth about the 9th floor?
